What’s going on at Xcell Academy a Paul Mitchell School « Xcell Academy's Blog!

Xcell Academy a Paul Mitchell Partner School has had so much going on the past month! Our students exceeded their fundraising goal and celebrated with a cookout and 'I Love Paul Mitchell Day' (and got to throw water balloons at the staff!). Then they picked right back up and began helping in the community by donating their time and services to help those so tragically affected by the storms. Paul Mitchell Schools jumped right in and donated the Paul Mitchell Bus for us to take to the communities to help those who were so desperately in need. Our students traveled to Tuscaloosa, Cullman, and Hackleburg, AL to wash and cut hair. Now, the bus has traveled to our sister school, Paul Mitchell the School – Huntsville so they can do the same for their community. Also, we've received countless love notes from Paul Mitchell Schools across the country, all of which have deeply touched our hearts.

We also had incredible guest artists like Lenny King, Debra Dietrich, and CC Cotton who shared inspiration stories with our Future Professionals, as well as being able to show and teach incredible skill sets. Our students took their talent to the street, or park! Oak Mountain State Park hosted the Xterra Southeastern Triathalon and students participated in a cut-a-thon in which all proceeds benefited the American Red Cross. In just a few hours, the students had raised more than ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!

There are so many incredible opportunities to give back, join a family, and receive a great education when you attend a Paul Mitchell School.

Igår eftermiddags skickade jag och Linda in vår rapport, det kändes så grymt skönt att bli av med den! Adobe hann bråka lite med oss innan men i alla fall så är den klar nu!

På kvällen var det teambuilding med HVS-styrelsen i form av att vi gjorde hemmagjorda pizzor som blev grym goda och sen marängswiss till efterrätt. Däremellan spelade vi wii och jag var sjukt nöjd över att jag lyckades knocka Ricky två gånger. Efter det badade jag, Maarja och Mathias 0ch sen kollade vi  Trainspotting.  Lite småskum och ganska rå film, men den var ändå sevärd.

Nu ska jag försöka avsluta pedagogikrapporten också…Jag är dödligt less på den!

FMI: Lagarde plombée par la justice | Nulla dies sine linea

L'argument est bien spécieux. Il faut un Européen à la tête du FMI. Christine Lagarde serait parfaite dans ce rôle. Il faut donc que notre actuelle ministre de l'Economie porte les couleurs de l'Union. Sauf que, en la désignant comme leur seul et unique candidat, la France et à sa suite nos partenaires de l'Union, prennent le risque de perdre la direction du Fonds en envoyant l'ex-championne de natation lestée d'une procédure judiciaire. Selon nos informations, en l'Etat du calendrier, il n'y a aucune chance pour le ministre de l'économie que son sort entre les mains de la Cour de Justice de la République soit réglé le 10 juin, date de clôture des candidatures à la direction du Fond.Pourtant, les européens doivent impérativement arrêter leur choix avant cette date. C'est donc à une autre primaire que vont se livrer les diplomaties européennes pour fixer leur choix sur un nom, et un seul. Sauf que, hasards du calendrier, la Commission des requêtes de la Cour de Justice de la République (CJR) se réunira ce même 10 juin, avec à son menu, le dossier de Christine Lagarde. « Une réunion prévue de longue date. Elle a été fixée début avril, lors de la précédente session de la Commission, selon un rythme qui lui appartient de définir », précise-t-on à la CJR.

Cette saisine est la suite logique de la décision de Jean-Louis Nadal, le Procureur prés de la CJR de faire suite à la mise en cause pour « abus d'autorité » du ministre dans la gestion du dossier Tapie/Adidas. Datée du 10 mai, celle-ci est donc intervenue bien avant le week-end du 14 et ne pouvait en aucun cas anticiper la future démission du directeur général du FMI. La Commission des requêtes est l'instance qui devra dire si il y a lieu ou pas d'ouvrir une enquête judiciaire sur le cas Christine Lagarde.

Le ministre de l'économie pourra-t-elle  jouer sur le décalage horaire en espérant une décision la mettant hors de cause au cours de ce premier examen pour déposer in extremis sa candidature ? Non : «  Dans les dossiers complexes, jamais la Commission n'a rendu sa décision lors d'un premier examen», poursuit la même source.  Pas question donc d'être sauvée par le gong.

Si elles venaient à s'accorder sur le nom de Christine Lagarde, les chancelleries européennes enverraient donc à Washington pour l'élection de miss/mister Fmi une candidate dont le sort judiciaire est incertain. Même présumée innocente, elle demeurera sous le coup d'une condamnation. Pas sur que dans ces conditions, les jurés apprécient sa candidature à la seule aune de ses compétences.

A moins que les sept magistrats (3 de la Cour de cassation, 2 de la Cour des comptes et 2 du Conseil d'Etat), qui forment la Commission, ne décident de se réunir de façon exceptionnelle une première fois avant le 10 juin…

Finally Found a BiPAP Mask That Fits Maia’s Precious Little Itty Bitty Face | A Journey with Maia & SMA

We have gone through a couple different BiPaP masks in the past few months and were having problems with Maia getting pressure sores on her nose and with air leaking because the mask or head gear was too big. The ResMed infant mask just arrived today and it fits her perfectly.  Thank goodness…. no more fighting with the mask and having to adjust it all night!  Thank you to Bill Strong for the info on ordering this mask.  Email

I began in Camera Raw making some general adjustments to lighting (increasing blacks and saturation). In Photoshop, I used an airbrush (30 opacity/40 flow) to make specific adjustments to soften the features.

Oh, Sally Hansen Salon Effects… I love you so.  (Incidentally, if anyone from Sally Hansen is reading this, you have me to thank you your recent surge in sales in the Connecticut area.  You're welcome.)

Have you seen these at your local drug store?  Have you, like me, thought they looked like the 2011 version of the icky Lee Press-On Nails?  Well we need to stop being so judgmental because THESE THINGS ARE AWESOME.

I saw a woman at a recent gallery event with the most amazing leopard nails which I assumed had to be airbrushed.  I complimented her on her fantastic manicure and she said, "you're never going to believe it: they're stickers!"  For serious.  Sally Hansen Salon Effects stickers.  I went out the very next day and bought three boxes because I couldn't decide on which I liked best and I'm here to tell you now, they are the best thing ever.  I may never paint my nails again.

They come in solids and patterns, my favorites have been the leopard print (Kitty Kitty) and the gold background with the fishnet patten over it (Misbehaved – pictured up there on my toes) and next I want to try the zebra print (Wild Child), the houndstooth (Check It Out) and the cool-looking black and white flower doodle (Cut It Out).

So the basic gist is you open the packet of assorted-width nail stickers and decide which would fit each of your individual nails the best.  They're long rectangles, rounded at both ends so I cut my strips in half because my nails are short.  This means that I now have twice as many stickers. Win!  You peel the protective top layer off, peel the sticky backing off, then position the sticker on your nail. Pres down, smooth with the wooden stick that comes with the kit, and then use the included mini file to gently file the edge of your nails to burnish the tips and trim off the excess.  That's it!  Your nail is done, it's instantly dry, and you can do all ten nails in less than half an hour, once you get the hang of it.

What's even better: they last FOREVER.  The first set I applied (Laced Up) stayed on for almost three weeks of heavy dishwashing, gardening, and careless hand use before they began to chip a bit and grow out.  The second set (Kitty Kitty) lasted two weeks before I was itching for a change, and the last set I tried (Misbehaved) stayed on my hands for over two weeks until they looked grown out.  The ones I applied to my toes are still going strong three weeks later.

I get so many compliments everywhere I go, especially from ladies with gorgeous, expensive airbrushed manicures.  They're stunned when I tell them that they're only stickers that you can get at any CVS for $10 for a pack of 16.  So in closing, Sally Hansen Salon Effects, I love you, and Sally Hansen corporate execs, if you feel like thanking me with free things or bags of money, please do.

No go buy them now. What are you waiting for?

Reunião do Fórum de Dança de Goiânia e Presidente da AGEPEL Gilvane Felipe « FÓRUM DE DANÇA DE GOIÂNIA

Estivemos reunidos no dia 10 de maio de 2011 com o Presidente da Agência Goiana de Cultura Pedro Ludovico Teixeira Sr. Gilvane Felipe. Ação que foi proposta na última reunião do Fórum de Dança na Fábrica Cultura Coletiva, no final de março.

Ressaltamos que foi à primeira vez um Gestor Público Estadual de Cultura recebeu o Fórum de Dança de Goiânia representado por Luciana Ribeiro, Sacha Witkowski e Valéria Figueiredo, para uma audiência.

Na reunião, foi informado ao Presidente Gilvane Felipe o histórico do Fórum de Dança e suas atuações na cidade, estado e no Brasil, com a elaboração de documentos que pautam por um entendimento transversal de cultura e de políticas públicas (Plano Regional de Dança e Projeto do Programa de Fomento a Dança) e das interlocuções com outros Fóruns de Dança no Brasil (Fórum de Dança de Curitiba, Fórum de Dança do DF, Movimenta em Campo Grande).

Em pauta, solicitamos ao Presidente alguns esclarecimentos e pedidos:

Gerência de Dança na AGEPEL e a importância desta não ser colocada como Gerência de Artes Cênicas. Informações sobre a indicação de uma cadeira de dança no Conselho Estadual de Cultura. Apresentamos o Projeto do Programa Estadual de Fomento à Dança elaborado em 2009 pelo Fórum de dança (com texto de Sacha Witkowski e Vera Bicalho). Solicitamos aqui que este projeto seja analisado e que se inicie um diálogo para que se efetive o mesmo. Situação da criação da Secretaria Estadual de Cultura em Goiás e a entrada do Estado no Sistema Nacional de Cultura.

Explicarmos que o Fórum de Dança de Goiânia é um coletivo de artistas da dança autônomo, que apóia iniciativas coerentes e objetivas para o crescimento e fortalecimento de políticas públicas no Estado e que nada teria a ver com outros Fóruns existentes na cidade, Gilvane Felipe foi aberto e o diálogo se iniciou de maneira sólida.

Gilvane Felipe nos informou que apesar de o Estado passar por contingenciamento, a proposta do atual governo e da atual direção da AGEPEL é de criar meios para que a cultura no Estado se fortaleça. Para isso anunciou que enviou propostas para a criação de programas para o incentivo ao fomento e a produção da arte no Estado e que estas propostas já estão em poder do Governador Marconi Perillo que deverá assinar positivamente. Aqui, aproveitamos e apresentamos o Projeto do Programa Estadual de Fomento à Dança.

Sobre a Secretaria Estadual de Cultura, o Governador sinalizou que será criada em Agosto próximo e que estará de acordo com o SNC (Sistema Nacional de Cultura – vide www.cultura.gov.br). Isso representará um ganho, uma vez que se articulados teremos a oportunidade de estarmos com representantes da dança dentro da futura Secretaria Estadual de Cultura. Será criado um Conselho Estadual de Política Cultural, Colegiados Setoriais (dança, circo, teatro, música, artes plásticas, folclore e outros). Aqui aproveitamos e falamos sobre a necessidade e importância de uma Gerência de Dança na futura Secretaria. Isso possibilitará que tenhamos mais autonomia e principalmente orçamento próprio dentro da máquina da futura Secretaria.

Em relação à indicação de um nome da dança para compor o Conselho Estadual de Cultura, cobramos um posicionamento e nos foi informado que este processo moroso está ainda em pauta para o Governador Marconi Perillo.

Ressaltamos aos colegas do Fórum de Dança de Goiânia que a nossa articulação interna e política na cidade e no Estado, será determinante nas ações voltadas para o fomento e fortalecimento de Políticas Públicas para a dança. Não podemos esperar que façam por nós, devemos estar antenados com o que acontece aqui e em outros estados. Temos que ser um Fórum propositivo e coerente com as nossas necessidades. Sem isso, não vejo um bom entendimento de crescimento da dança no Estado.

In the morning we started our project which was to make something out of stuff we would usually throw away. After break we did literacy with mr hughs and we learned about pandora (the planet in the film AVATAR) And wrote about it's inhabbitants and plants.
After literacy we did maths,we went over some sheets about time until lunch.
After lunch we did some work on doctor who. We made up doctor who scenes and acted
them out in front of the class. Then we had assembly which we mist beacause we were updating this.

Ohhhhkayyy gurlies! So Leesh and I won the Fashion show! And it turns out the winners get a photo shoot with Teen Vogue! Eh. Ma. Gawd. I'm totes siked! I PROMISE I'll post the pics after the shoot.

Anyways, on to OCD announcements.

We're going glamping (glam camping) today! Why the exclamation you may ask? We're going with Briarwood! Which means I'll get to spend time with my Cami (like the tank top) ! I'll be sure to post picks from that too. Dyl, Kris, Leesh and I are planning to sneak into the guy's bunks in the middle of the night. Cam says it'd be cool. We just have to make sure Mr. Meyers and Ke$ha (new teacher who's a Ke$ha look alike) don't catch us.  LOL

Well I gawtta go. We're supposed to be leaving to meet the buses (first class Coach ones ah-vbiously). I'm making sure I sit with the PC, Cam, and Leesh's new BF Liam in the back of the bus (they have mini fridges and EVERYTHING back there!) so we don't have to occupy ourselves by singing  Bottles of Beer on the Wall like a bunch of LBRs. Isn't that what Kuh-laire is for?

김동수 공정위원장, "글로벌 기업결합 심사를 위한 '심사체 구성'에 의견 접근"

김동수 공정거래위원장은 한-EU간 상호 교역·투자 등 전반에 걸친 경제협력이 강화되어 경쟁촉진과 소비자 권리 강화 등이 더욱 중요한 이슈가 될 것으로 예상됨에 따라 알무니아 EU 집행위원회 부의장 및 코기 소비자총국장과의 연쇄회의를 개최하여 다음과 같이 합의했다.

5월 18일 알무니아(Almunia) EU 집행위 부의장 겸 경쟁담당 집행위원과의 회의에서는 경쟁정책과 경쟁법 운영에 있어서 상호 긴밀히 공조하기로 합의했다. 이와 관련하여 구체적인 협의를 위해 7월 15일 알무니아 부의장이 한국을 방문하여 양자협의회를 개최할 예정이다.

5월 17일 코기(Coggi) EU 소비자총국장과의 회의에서는 소비자 정책 및 소비자 권리 강화 등을 위한 상호 공조를 강화하기 위해 소비자 정책 협의체를 구성하기로 합의하고, 이를 위해 구체적인 실무 협의를 조만간 개시하기로 했다.

5월 19일 다케시마 일본 공정거래위원장과의 회의에서는 최근 세계경제 회복을 계기로 증가하고 있는 글로벌 기업결합을 체계적으로 심사하기 위한 구체적인 협력방안을 마련하는데 합의하였고, 향후 EU, 캐나다 등 주요 경쟁당국과도 이러한 방안을 확산하는 데 노력을 기울이기로 합의했다.

이번 합의의 배경은 지난해 한국, 일본, EU 등의 경쟁당국이 적극적인 국제공조활동으로 세계 2,3위 철강업체인 BHP 빌리턴(BHP Billiton)과 리오 틴토(Rio Tinto)의 기업결합을 저지하게 된 것을 계기로 향후 이와 같은 글로벌 기업결합 심사를 구체화하는 방안에 공감대가 형성됐다. 심사방안은 글로벌 기업결합이 신고되는 경우 '관련 당사국간 심사체'를 구성하고, 이에 참여하는 국가들이 심사방법(관련시장의 범위 획정, 시정조치 방안 마련 등)과 심사기간 등에서 공동 보조를 취하는 내용으로 추진될 전망이다.

이밖에도 한-일 공정거래위원장 회의에서는 한·일 경쟁당국이 중심이 되어 '아시아지역 경쟁정책 네트워크' 형성을 위한 논의와 협력을 더욱 강화하기로 했다. 이번 논의는 최근 유럽, 중남미, 아프리카 등 전세계적으로 지역별·권역별 경쟁정책분야의 협력이 강화되는 가운데 아시아지역에서도 이에 대응하기 위한 돌파구를 위한 것이다.

한편, 김동수 위원장은 5월 16일부터 5월 19일에 걸쳐 8명의 세계 경쟁당국 수장들과의 연쇄회동을 갖고 최근 경기회복에 따른 물가상승 압력 등에 적극적으로 대응하면서 시장경제 체제를 강화하기 위해서는 카르텔, 독과점 남용 등과 같은 경쟁법 위반행위에 대해서 엄정한 법집행이 필요하다는 점에 공감했다.

김동수 위원장은 이번 EU 방문 및 제10차 ICN 총회 참석의 의의를 "EU와 경쟁·소비자 정책 분야에서 상호 협력하기로 합의한 것"과 "글로벌 기업결합에 대한 심사시 '관련 당사국간 심사체 구성' 등 공조체제를 구축할 필요성에 대해 의견접근이 이루어진 것"이라고 밝혔다.
